# Auto-pay and flux alerts

> Mark auto-paid bills automatically, get prompted to check variable amounts before they bill, and set a grace period.

Three settings on a bill's detail screen handle payments you do not log by hand: auto-pay, flux alerts, and grace periods.

## Auto-pay

If your bank or provider charges you automatically, toggle **Auto-Pay** on. DueZen marks the item paid on its due date without any action from you, which keeps your history accurate for bills you never touch.

* Toggle it on the add, edit, or detail screen
* Auto-paid history entries carry a lightning bolt badge
* You can still override the amount manually if it differed from the expected value

## Flux alerts for variable bills

Flux alerts are for bills whose amount changes month to month — electricity, water, a credit card minimum. With flux enabled, DueZen prompts you to check the current invoice before the bill is auto-paid or logged.

* Enable **Flux** from the detail screen of any variable-amount bill
* The notification fires 3 days before the due date
* It prompts you to open the app and confirm this cycle's amount
* The confirmed amount is recorded in payment history

## Grace periods

A grace period is the number of days after the due date during which payment can still be made without a late fee. Many credit cards allow 5 to 10 days.

Set it in days on the bill's detail screen.

* The item is not marked overdue until the grace period expires
* A **grace period alert** fires 1 day before the window closes
* Grace periods do not change payment history timestamps

  Auto-pay and flux together cover the two common failure modes: forgetting to pay, and paying an amount you never checked. Turn on auto-pay for fixed bills and flux for variable ones.
