# Recurring bills

> The six recurrence intervals, how end dates auto-archive an item, and how to pause a subscription without deleting it.

Most items in DueZen repeat. The recurrence you choose determines every future due date.

## Recurrence types

The recurrence anchor is the original due date. All future dates are calculated from that anchor, so a monthly bill due on the 28th stays on the 28th.

| Interval   | Repeats                      | Example                          |
| ---------- | ---------------------------- | -------------------------------- |
| Weekly | Every 7 days from the anchor | Weekly meal delivery |
| Biweekly   | Every 14 days                | A loan aligned to your paycheck  |
| Monthly | Same day each month | Most subscriptions and utilities |
| Quarterly  | Every 3 months               | Insurance premiums               |
| Semiannual | Every 6 months               | Car registration                 |
| Yearly     | Every 12 months              | Annual memberships               |

## End dates for limited-term items

Some commitments end on a known date — a 12-month gym contract, a promotional subscription, a term loan. Turn on the **End date** toggle when adding or editing an item.

* The end date is the date of the **last** expected payment
* The item auto-archives the day after that date
* It disappears from your active list but stays in payment history
* Archived items can be restored at any time

## Pause and resume

Pausing suits a subscription you are not using now but plan to keep. Open the bill's detail screen and toggle **Paused**.

* Paused items appear dimmed with a pause badge
* No reminders or notifications are sent while paused
* The item is not deleted or archived

To resume, toggle **Paused** off. The next due date recalculates from the current date, so you will not return to a stack of backdated overdue alerts.

<Tip>
  Pausing is not the same as archiving. Pause when you expect to come back; archive when you are done but want to keep the record.
</Tip>

See [Export and archiving](/advanced/export-and-archiving) for how to restore an archived item.
